Lacunova

Terms of use

In force since September 29, 2026

Contents

1. What Lacunova is

Lacunova is a study workshop: you import your course documents, artificial intelligence turns them into quizzes, a glossary, recaps and a tutor, and you practise until the exam. These terms govern your use of the application; by creating an account, you accept them.

2. Your account

You must be 14 or older to open an account on your own. Under 14, a parent or guardian creates the account and gives their consent (Québec’s Law 25).

An account belongs to one person. Use an email address that is yours and keep your ways of signing in (password, passkey, links received by email) to yourself. If you think someone else uses your account, change your password and tell us.

The AI features turn on once your email address is confirmed.

3. Your content

Your documents, notes, answers and what you create with the application remain yours. You only allow us to store them, process them and pass them to our providers as far as needed to provide the service (for example, sending a passage of your course to the AI model that writes a quiz).

Only import content you have the right to use for studying, and nothing illegal. You can export and delete everything from the settings.

4. Artificial intelligence

Quizzes, corrections, summaries and the tutor’s answers are produced by AI models. They can contain mistakes: check what matters, especially before an exam. They replace neither your teacher nor your official documents.

Every AI action shows an estimate before and its real cost after, according to your plan.

5. Sharing

You can share a quiz through a practice link or with other members. What you share is visible to the people who have the link: only share what you have the right to share. Shared content can be reported; we may remove a link or restrict sharing for an account that breaks these terms.

6. Plans and payment

A new account starts on the free plan, with limited amounts. Paid plans and top-ups are sold through Stripe, which processes the payment; we never see your card number.

A free trial exists only when the plan says so. You can cancel a subscription at any time from the Subscription page; it stays active until the end of the paid period. Refunds follow the law, including Québec’s Consumer Protection Act.

7. Acceptable use

To keep the service fair for everyone, you may not:

  • open several free accounts to get around a plan’s limits;
  • automate the application (bots, mass extraction) or try to get around its security;
  • use the application to harass, deceive or harm anyone, or to spread illegal content.

8. Availability

We do our best to keep Lacunova available and your data backed up, but the service can be interrupted, in particular for maintenance announced in the application.

9. Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time from the settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you unless it is urgent (fraud, security).

10. Liability

As far as the law allows, and without limiting the rights Québec’s Consumer Protection Act gives you, we are not responsible for the academic results you get with the application, nor for mistakes in AI-generated content you did not check.

11. Changes

If these terms change in a significant way, the application tells you and asks you to accept them again before going on. The date of the version in force is shown at the top of this page.

12. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and Canada. For any question: the Lacunova team, from the Help page of the application.
